This is absolutely disgusting. No matter who you think you are, it is *never* appropriate to intentionally hurt someone else.
Don’t cheapen the experiences of those who have been in abusive relationships by saying shit like this. It only fuels the “untouchable” attitude of celebrities who think they can do whatever the heck they want.
*Everyone* deserves to be valued, respected, and loved — not hurt. This thread disgusts me.

I hate that young girls are thinking this way.

I find Chris Brown’s presence on tv hurtful. After the whole incident, all I could hear was “Rihanna deserved it,” and to see so many young people still accept his actions as OK is disturbing and very triggering. I’m typing through tears right now, that is how upset I am. Not at christ brown, no , he’s paid his dues to society and despite some irrational outbursts on twitter and so forth, hasn’t beaten another woman up as far as we know. I am content to let him live his life and pursue his craft. It’s the women and men that continue to say his actions are justifiable , his actions are somehow OK because he’s sexy, a good singer, handsome, or whatever.
Violence against women IS NOT OKAY.
Violence against women IS NOT SEXY.
Violence against women IS NOT THE VICTIM’S FAULT
Violence against women IS endemic in our culture BECAUSE of reactions to known abusers like we’ve seen here.
Violence against women RUINS LIVES AND FAMILIES
1 in 4 women between the ages of 18-45 have been victim to domestic/partner violence.
This isn’t a joke.
